Rogers and Hammerstein are responsible for some of the greatest movie musicals ever. The pairing of these two creative men led to classic musical moments that often repeated… even by those who have never seen one of their movies. I was singing “I’m gonna wash that man right out of my hair” in the shower long before seeing South Pacific. I learned musical scales by singing Do Re Mi from The Sound of Music in 5th grade choir class. I wanted to give a top ten list of my favorite of their films, but although they collaborated on eleven projects, only eight were made into movies. So, now I give to you, my top EIGHT Rogers and Hammerstein films.

8) Carousel (1956)
7) South Pacific (1958)
6) State Fair (1945)
5) The King and I (1956)
4) Flower Drum Song (1961)
3) Cinderella (1997)
2) The Sound of Music (1965)
1) Oklahoma! (1955)

What do you think? Do you agree with my results? What would you put as number 1? Let me know in the comments…
